Collaborative Exchange: KAUST and Tsinghua Shenzhen Visit LKK Design

On the morning of November 19, a delegation of faculty and students from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School visited LKK Design for a collaborative exchange event. The visit was designed to foster in-depth collaboration between academic research and industrial application, exploring new pathways for technological innovation and product commercialization. LKK Design extended a warm welcome and organized a substantive program.

The delegation began with a tour of the LKK Design product exhibition hall. Following the tour, both parties held a constructive roundtable discussion. KAUST project leaders introduced their cutting-edge research areas, recent breakthroughs, and ongoing challenges. They highlighted key technical bottlenecks and industrial needs encountered during the transition from laboratory validation to productization and mass production, expressing strong interest in collaborating with industry partners to address these challenges.

In response, the LKK Design team shared systematic insights into the critical steps required to bring lab-stage innovations to the market. Drawing on their extensive experience in product definition, engineering design, material selection, supply chain management, lean production, and market launch, they outlined the core tasks involved in scaling technologies for commercial use. The dialogue delved into bridging the gap between “technical feasibility” and “market-ready products,” allowing both sides to clearly present their expertise and identify multiple potential areas for collaboration.
