In recent years, factors like the international energy crisis and geopolitical conflicts have driven a universal surge in electricity prices across Europe. This has intensified the demand for energy stability, rapidly accelerating the adoption of household energy storage products in the European market. Our client, YelonESS, aimed to capitalize on this opportunity by developing a revolutionary all-in-one Energy Storage System (ESS). This product was envisioned to seamlessly integrate a high-performance inverter with a storage battery, providing households and businesses with a user-friendly and efficient source of green solar power.

LKK Design was entrusted with the comprehensive design and development of this product, with the goal of creating a market-leading solution that combined superior performance, utmost safety, and elegant aesthetics.

The European market presents a high demand for energy storage with particularly stringent requirements for product safety and reliability. YelonESS's core objectives were:

  1. Seamless Integration: To perfectly merge the inverter and battery into a single unit, saving customers the hassle of complex connections and debugging, thereby reducing installation time.

  2. Flexible Scalability: To support free power expansion from 10kWh to 30kWh, allowing users to adapt to growing energy needs.

  3. Safety & Reliability: To ensure the product complied with the most rigorous European safety standards, guaranteeing security in a home environment.

  4. User-Centric Experience: To deliver an exceptional experience from installation and maintenance to daily use, with a design that complements modern home aesthetics.

Our approach was a structured, multi-stage process ensuring every aspect of the YelonESS all-in-one ESS design was meticulously crafted.

1. Design Research
Our initial phase involved deep research into European user habits, installation environments, and aesthetic preferences. We identified that users desired a product that functioned not just as a utility device, but as a harmonious part of their home interior—a premium appliance rather than a cold piece of industrial equipment.

2. Industrial Design

  • Style Orientation: Our design inspiration was drawn from the elegance of a "gentleman's tuxedo." We created a simple, sophisticated, and home-friendly style through clean lines, refined proportions, and a premium feel, ensuring the unit blends seamlessly into any residential setting.

  • Modular Design: The battery packs feature a flexible, modular design. This provides users with various configuration possibilities, allowing them to add new battery packs as their energy demands change, supporting up to five units for extensive scalability.

3. Mechanical & Structural Design

  • Revolutionary Wall-Mounted Structure: We innovated a bracket that integrates a built-in leveling function. This allows installers to achieve perfect balance in one simple step, increasing measurement and installation efficiency by 70%.

  • Foolproof Connector Design: The battery module connections feature a foolproof design, enabling true "plug-and-play" functionality. This simplifies installation and expansion while minimizing the risk of operational errors.

  • Safety & Thermal Management: The internal layout was optimized for cell placement, the proprietary BMS, and cooling pathways, ensuring system stability and safety even under high load conditions.

4. Prototyping & Testing
Upon finalizing the design, we built functional and appearance prototypes for rigorous testing.

  • Installation Simulation: We validated the ease of use and reliability of the wall-mount structure and module connections.

  • User Interaction Testing: We ensured the user interface was intuitive and clear.

  • Structural & Stress Testing: The prototype underwent tests to verify long-term structural integrity and efficient heat dissipation.
