The electric vehicle (EV) revolution demands charging solutions that are as dynamic as their users. The Chilye charging pile design, crafted in partnership with LKK Design, redefines the market with a versatile, user-centric product that merges intelligent functionality with customizable aesthetics.

The new energy vehicle market's explosive growth created a vast opportunity in charging infrastructure. However, a significant vehicle-to-pile ratio gap meant that convenient charging was a major user pain point, highlighting the need for innovative EV charging pile design.

Client Vision
Suzhou Zhilu (Chilye) identified this challenge as a chance to lead. They tasked LKK Design with a clear mission: to develop a charging pile design that would solve the problem of accessibility and promote new energy adoption through superior user experience and smart, portable charging pile design.

  • Universal Compatibility: Support over 95% of EVs using global charging standards.

  • User-Enabled Installation: Achieve a revolutionary 60-second, tool-free installation process.

  • Smart Features: Integrate WiFi and Bluetooth for remote monitoring and control.

  • Customizable Aesthetics: Ensure the charging pile design offered personalization in colors, patterns, and functions.

Design Research

Our research revealed that individual EV owners demanded more than just functionality. This insight directly shaped the Chilye charging pile design strategy, leading to a dual-solution approach for both home and on-the-go charging.

Industrial Design

The industrial design for Chilye embraces a minimalist and modern aesthetic. We created a clean form that serves as a canvas for customization, allowing the charging pile design to be a personal lifestyle accessory rather than just a utility device.

Mechanical Structure Design

A pivotal achievement of this project was the mechanical structure design. To enable the 60-second installation, we engineered a unique snap-fit and modular interface. This user-focused structural design was fundamental to the product's value proposition.
