As consumer demand becomes increasingly shaped by express delivery, the need for immediate fulfillment continues to grow. People expect food, supplies, and other goods to arrive more quickly.

In mountainous areas, steep roads, long agricultural transport times, and difficult transportation conditions create additional challenges. People therefore need a more efficient and labor-saving way to transport agricultural products.

New Product Development

Yongyue Technology partnered with LKK Design to develop the Xin Aurora980 logistics drone series.

The drone covers a delivery range of approximately 5 kilometers and supports remote operation. It can automatically unload goods through a designated cargo compartment, saving both time and cost while enabling unmanned last-mile delivery.

Product Positioning

The Yongyue Technology logistics drone transforms traditional logistics methods through an innovative model combining urban drone delivery with smart community parcel lockers.

This approach reduces the pressure placed on delivery workers by platform algorithms while enabling accurate and efficient deliveries and improving last-mile logistics.

Exterior Design

The upper cover uses form and color combinations to divide different functional areas.

The battery modules create a symmetrical overall design, allowing the arms and main body to appear more integrated and visually unified.

Curved waterfall-style transitions connect the battery module with both sides of the body. This treatment enriches the visual layering while reducing water accumulation.

The battery module handle uses a bright orange-yellow finish, reflecting the visual characteristics of the logistics industry while improving visibility.

The lower cargo compartment adopts a rounded rectangular form with gradually fading surfaces, creating consistency with the overall product shape.

💎 Design Value Delivered

The project provided Yongyue Technology with a clearer and more unified product identity for its logistics drone platform.

By integrating the battery modules, aircraft body, arms and cargo compartment into a consistent exterior language, the design made the product’s intended logistics application easier to understand. Functional color zoning and the high-visibility battery handle also strengthened the communication of important operating areas.

Rather than treating industrial design as surface styling alone, the project connected product appearance with module organization, outdoor-use considerations and logistics application scenarios. This created a stronger foundation for subsequent engineering development, prototype communication and product commercialization.

Value for the Logistics Drone Industry

The Xin Aurora980 project demonstrates how logistics UAV design can be organized around a specific delivery scenario rather than adapting the appearance of a conventional consumer drone.

Its combination of dedicated cargo capacity, short-range route planning, remote operation and environmental adaptability presents a practical product direction for urban last-mile delivery and agricultural transportation in areas where conventional road access may be inefficient.

The case also shows how product positioning and industrial design can help transform complex UAV technology into a product concept that is easier for users, commercial partners and other project stakeholders to understand.

💡 Solution

1. Increased Cargo Capacity

The upgraded product provides a large-capacity cargo space.

It can carry a standard load of 5 kilograms and a maximum load of 10 kilograms, approximately equal to the weight of two to four cartons of milk.

This capacity is practical for most users and reduces the difficulty of carrying heavy goods between floors.

2. RTK Millimeter-Level Positioning

The drone uses Yongyue’s independently developed RTK millimeter-level positioning technology.

It accurately measures displacement during takeoff, landing, and flight, achieving positioning accuracy of up to plus or minus 3 millimeters.

3. Intelligent Route Planning

The intelligent route-planning system supports deliveries within a range of approximately 5 kilometers.

This distance is equivalent to around twelve and a half laps of a standard school running track and can generally cover the delivery range of a courier rider.

4. Operation in Challenging Environments

The Xin Aurora980 can operate in temperatures ranging from −20°C to 50°C.

It can also withstand Level 5 winds with speeds of up to 10 m/s.

Even in high temperatures, snow, strong winds, or periods of limited delivery capacity, the drone can continue performing delivery tasks.
