Jiangsu Kangshang Biomedical Technology Co., Ltd. is an innovative company focused on the family and clinical healthcare ecosystem. Facing a market where oxygenerators often share similar looks, KangShang commissioned LKK Design to break from tradition. The goal was to reinvent the product's appearance and user experience, enhancing its portability and suitability for home use while strengthening the brand's market presence.

KangShang's primary objective was to achieve significant market differentiation through design. The directives were clear: develop a simple, portable form that felt gentle and approachable, moving away from the typical clinical aesthetic. A full-screen interactive interface was essential to improve usability and visual clarity. Furthermore, the design needed to incorporate modular side accessories, allowing the device to be adapted for various medical institutions and scenarios.

Design Research

We began by analyzing the pain points of traditional oxygenerators, focusing on the user journey for both medical professionals and patients. Initial sketches and market research informed a design direction that balanced aesthetic appeal with practical needs.

Industrial Design

We crafted a minimalist and温和 (gentle) form language to make the device feel less intimidating and more like a home appliance. The streamlined appearance disrupts the market, while the signature modular side panels enable functional flexibility for different healthcare settings. The full-screen interface was integrated to provide a clear, intuitive, and convenient user experience.

Mechanical Structural Design

Our engineers meticulously planned the internal component layout and assembly methods. Every structural detail was optimized for performance, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. We conducted a thorough DFM (Design for Manufacturability) analysis, evaluating everything from mold parting and ejection mechanisms to post-processing, ensuring a high-quality and efficient manufacturing cycle.

Prototyping and Testing

A functional prototype was built to validate the design's form and function. This was followed by a low-volume pilot production run. Dozens of units were assembled and subjected to rigorous tests to verify reliability, refine the production process, and gather crucial data for mass production, ensuring a flawless market launch.

The final product stands out in the market with its unique identity, enhanced user experience, and adaptable modular system. Our end-to-end involvement—from initial user insights to design, engineering, and production support—ensured a high-quality, efficient device that elevates the KangShang brand and meets the evolving needs of the healthcare industry.
