An X-ray digital imaging chest X-ray device designed for GE
Digital chest X-rays are a common medical device that accurately capture images of different injured areas on patients, helping doctors make accurate diagnoses. Key to supporting the proper functioning of digital chest X-rays and their ability to be viewed from various angles lies in the design of the stand. This design adapts to the patient's posture (standing, sitting, or lying), as well as injuries to arms, legs, and joints, facilitating adjustment and use by the doctor, improving efficiency while maximizing patient comfort. However, a single device that meets all imaging needs is difficult to achieve.
As one of the world's leading healthcare suppliers, GE is committed to solving global challenges. The LKK Rococo design team worked with GE to thoroughly research the design optimization of a digital chest X-ray stand. They developed an innovative design solution that was both user-friendly and met GE's product requirements. This helped GE implement and validate a new vertical structure. The fly-by-wire control system reduced transmission clutter, enhanced the user experience, and revolutionized the operational design. Information and statistical data are now displayed at an optimal height, making reading easier. This also heralds a new era of user-friendly medical equipment for GE, further enhancing its capabilities.
The X-ray digital chest imaging stand features an oval shape throughout its exterior, ensuring overall continuity and consistency. The oval shape also lends the product a sleek, slim appearance, further enhancing its approachability and style.
Solution:
1. The LKK team considered patient comfort and preventing misoperation when designing the handle and button positions. The handle is angled relative to the detector. One side of the detector housing features a bevel to reduce pressure on the patient's arm. A chin rest, arm rest, and a grip handle on the top of the detector are also included to enhance patient comfort.
2. The horizontal drive's protective cover is colored GE blue, reassuring patients that they won't come into contact with hazardous areas. The arm rest also makes it easier for doctors to guide patients, allowing them to position their arms and elbows, eliminating any anxiety and uncertainty about how to cooperate.
3. The LKK team prioritized ease of use for doctors and combined product performance with a reversible geometric design. This simplifies operation and improves efficiency. The device supports horizontal tilt, bed-style, and low-position modes. Doctors can perform basic operations using the screen, handle, or manual horizontal movement. It also offers multiple rotation options, including vertical rotation, horizontal rotation via a button on the bottom, and horizontal flip. The control knob is recessed, perfectly supporting its movement. This design provides a comfortable experience when the detector moves up and down. •4. The display screen features more readable information, alleviating patient anxiety and improving physician efficiency. Careful planning ensures that the on-screen information is at eye level.
GE, along with Philips and Siemens, is known as the global healthcare giant. How to differentiate itself through product design has long been a challenge for GE. The LKK Rococo team helped GE achieve brand differentiation through both exterior and color design. The product's conservative design and the corresponding color scheme give it a gentle appearance. The screen features a matte finish, and all surfaces, including arm rests and a handle on the detector head, enhance patient comfort. The GE blue color is applied to the protective cover of the horizontal drive, reassuring patients that they are safe from contact with hazardous areas. The "arm rest" design also makes it easier for doctors to guide patients, allowing them to position their arms and elbows there, eliminating any potential for nervousness and confusion.
