Firefly Space is a mixed reality ( MR ) hardware company founded in Silicon Valley in 2017.Its founding team is comprised of graduates from prestigious universities and companies, including the University of California, Berkeley, Cisco, and Deloitte. They also have professors from world-renowned universities such as Tsinghua University and the EMC Laboratory at Missouri University of Science and Technology, known for its leading electromagnetic compatibility laboratory in the United States, as advisors. Firefly Space is dedicated to developing standalone MR headsets with a broader field of view and multi-user interaction . These headsets can be used across a wide range of applications and services, offering innovative, multi-dimensional interactive experiences that improve work efficiency and reduce costs for businesses.

The interactive forms of smart products are constantly evolving, from mouse and keyboard to touch screens and finally to virtual reality. Each era of products has its own unique interactive form. These MR hybrid virtual glasses overlay virtual content on the real world, allowing for interaction.

Industrial Design

The product's complex internal optical components resulted in a bulky, voluminous body. The design team sought to maintain a comfortable hardware layout while also creating a visually pleasing, refined feel. Two key design elements were employed: first, the product was color-coded, with the two sides of the glasses isolated and painted in a light metallic finish. The contrasting colors minimized the overall bulk; second, the streamlined design of sports cars was employed, with a dynamic, streamlined cut designed into the body. All surfaces were slightly curved, minimizing the appearance of flat surfaces and creating a more lively look.

Mechanical Design

The touchpad on the right side of the glasses uses an inward concave surface with a clear outline; the two function keys in front and behind the touchpad use physical pressing to give users clearer feedback, and the two settings are more conducive to blind operation; the forehead rest has also been redesigned, using a textile-lined plastic design, which fits the skin more comfortably.

In August 2022, the company participated in the AWE Asia 2022 WorldXR Industry Expo and launched the first-generation mass-produced Firefly H Industrial Edition mixed reality headset, the world's first binocular mixed reality headset with an ultra-large field of view and full color gamut. In November of the same year , the company exhibited the Firefly H Industrial Edition mixed reality headset at the 5th China International Import Expo, where it was covered by multiple media outlets, including Suzhou Television, China Emergency Management News, and China Trade News.
